m5 architects is a Beijing based creative studio lead by two seasoned European designers. A hint of German rationality and rigour is certainly noticeable in our work, but so we think is the Nordic humane touch and certain playfulness. More than ten years of work and life experience in China add an continuously expanding understanding of Chinese sensitivity and depth to our approach.

We like working with colours, textiles and light, and using materials out of their usual context. Even more we like a good challenge: we have designed towers and subway stations, restaurants, bars and showrooms, as well as furniture and even a bicycle.

Working in historical context holds a special place in our hearts, as does timber - both as a  structural and a surface material.
